Milwaukee Area Destinations. For outdoor lovers, one of the must–do destinations is the Hank Aaron State Park Trail, which is underway along the Menomonee River in Milwaukee. Currently, two segments are open for use—one near Miller Park (home of the Milwaukee Brewers) and a temporary trail between 13th and 21st streets and 16th and 25th streets.

When completed, the trail will cover approximately seven miles, starting at Lake Michigan, running along the Menomonee River, and linking to the Milwaukee County Oak Leaf Trail at its West End in Doyne Park.

If you're traveling with your kids, don't forget to visit the County Zoo. Kids of all ages will fall head–over–heels for the incredible variety of both land and water critters that have found the perfect home at the Milwaukee County Zoo–everything from a Two–Toed Sloth to a Pacific Giant Octopus to a Vampire Bat. From the West via I–94 (Madison, WI): Take I–94 East. Exit I–794 (right lane). Proceed to Jackson/Van Buren Exit (left–hand exit). At the stoplight, proceed straight on Van Buren two blocks to Wisconsin Avenue. Turn left on Wisconsin Avenue and proceed three blocks to Milwaukee Street.
