Milwaukee County has a world-class park system. Sixteen of those parks are home to some of the most challenging and enjoyable golf courses in the area. These golf courses range from the pro course of Brown Deer Park to a course designed for the beginner. Some of the parks, such as Dretzka and Oakwood, also have driving ranges and some have electric carts for rent. If you didn't bring your clubs, you can rent them from the clubhouse. Tee-times are recommended so make to call ahead. Here are just a few of the great Milwaukee County area public golf courses:
Brown Deer Golf Course. Established in 1929, this challenging 6, 716-yard, Par 71 layout features 60 sand-filled bunkers, mature tree-lined fairways and water winding throughout the course. For more information or to make a tee-time, call 414.352.8080. [Top]
Dretzka Golf Course. Opened in 1964, this 6,840-yard, Par 72 course is designed for the low-handicap golfer. The championship layout has water throughout, crossing 12 of the 18 holes. Even though it seems wide open, the narrow, sculpted fairways and long rough create a slicer’s nightmare. For more information or to make a tee-time, call 414.354.7300. [Top]
Grant Golf Course. Middle-handicap golfers will find the right blend of challenge and relaxation on this 5,174-yard, Par 67 18-hole layout. Although this is a short course—no Par 5s—it does have many challenging Par 4 and Par 3 holes. For more information or to make a tee-time, call 414.762-4646. [Top]
Greenfield Golf Course. At 6,026 yards, this Par 68, 18-hole course is treacherous and filled with hazards. Greens are protected and most fairways are lined with large, stately trees. For more information or to make a tee-time, call 414.453-1750. [Top]
Lincoln Park Golf Course. Middle handicap golfers looking for a 9-hole course will find that the Lincoln Park Golf Course fits the bill. Located in a wooded 312-acre park on the Milwaukee River, this course offers a glimpse of deer and fox as you enjoy a challenging round of golf. For more information or to make a tee-time, call 414.962.2400.

For the kids, you’ll want to check out Martino’s Putt Away Mini Golf in Milwaukee. For more information, call 414.281.5580. [Top]
